The VMA’s did nothing for Taylor Swift music wise.

I don’t know why people have this idea in their heads and that Taylor “SHOULD BE THANKING KANYE WEST BECAUSE OTHERWISE NO ONE WOULD KNOW HER NAME.”
It’s ignorant to say that. Her album went Gold in the first four weeks, and that was, what, an entire year before the VMA’s? Love Story was a pretty okay success - it was played on MTV - and that was at least 4 months before the “YOU BELONG WITH ME” phenomenon. The entire summer before the VMA’s, You Belong With Me was getting played constantly. She was selling out concerts before the VMA’s, too. And lots of them. I was present at her sold out concert at MADISON SQUARE GARDEN.
The VMA’s made Taylor Swift tabloid famous, and it did nothing more.
AND I WOULD ALSO BE WILLING TO BET, WHILE WE’RE ON THE SUBJECT, THAT THE PEOPLE WHO KEEP SAYING THAT TAYLOR SWIFT CANNOT WRITE A SONG HAVE ONLY HEARD ABOUT 3 OF HER MOST POPULAR SONGS. IF YOU’RE GOING TO CALL AN ENTIRE ALBUM “SHITTY” AND UNDESERVING OF AN AWARD YOU SHOULD PROBABLY KNOW EVERY SONG THAT IS ON SAID ALBUM.
I hope to God this is my last rant ever okay I hate it.
